Seven generations of passion for pearls, corals and cameos
"The future belongs to companies that have a story to tell"
— Alfonso Vitiello, D'Elia Company
In a distant time, in a place as remote as 18th century Japan, the D'Elia family ventured from Torre del Greco to begin a commercial venture that still feeds on passion for the products of the sea.
The D'Elias chose to go directly to the source, to select where products of fabulous quality, rarity, and preciousness were born. In the city of Kobe, the D'Elia family made their home, becoming pioneers in the trade of pearls, corals, and shells from Japan to Europe, India, and the United States.
It's no coincidence that D'Elia was among the first Torre del Greco companies to have a New York office address on their letterhead, eventually becoming the largest company in the sector with 600 workers and employees.

The passion for pearls, the love for corals and cameos
They were never afraid of growing old. On the contrary, for two families from Torre del Greco, the centuries they carry and the passing of time have become a source of wealth and the backbone of the city's economy. For the D'Elia-Vitiello family, everything has been stored in the baggage of memory and in the hands of their artisans, as well as for Alfonso, whose profile would require dusting off one of those somewhat old-fashioned terms and pronouncing it in its English equivalent: "Gentleman" — elegant, sparing with words, yet generous with smiles. He allows himself in his gestures the slowness and nonchalance of someone who has no need to compete, and in his work he demands that everything be perfect, like his strictly Neapolitan tailored suits.
The D'Elias chose Japan as their second homeland, and the Japanese were quick to reciprocate: starting with the legendary Kokichi Mikimoto, the founder of pearl cultivation, in a cordial collaboration that contributed to the economic development of pearls.
The Japanese government recognized the Torre del Greco family as true friends of the Land of the Rising Sun for their help in reviving the sector devastated by World War II.
